It seems a long, long time since we had a Carpark Capers Event and after the fantastically successful 66th Federal Rally in Noosa, I know you will all be looking forward to getting out in those magnificent machines. Famous Camargue driver Greg Skinner has found a wonderful venue that will be perfect for our Brisbane and Gold Coast members alike. We are heading South to Springwood

Club member John Somerset has organised a lovely run to historic Caboonbah undenominational Church, where there will be a picnic (BYO) and live music.
With the 66th Federal Rally only just around the corner in May, April will be a little quiet for anyone not involved in the Rally organisation. The drive to the Brisbane Valley & Somerset Dam will be lovely at this time of year, and you can get to Caboonbah via either Kilcoy or Esk.
There is approximately 1km of gravel drive to get to the Church.
Entry $20 / car - you must pre-book using the QR code on the flier.
Alternatively click on this link to go straight to the booking site, with all details:
Tap or click on the image below to download a flier.
Please note: this is an alternative Club Event - you can drive your SIVS-registered cars but the Club will not be handling bookings or enquiries. Please read all terms and conditions carefully as the Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club of Australia is not the organiser of this event.
Surely a Rolls Royce or Bentley , in the leafy suburb of Ascot , shouldn’t stand out too much and I’m sure it will be an easy destination via the freeways from north, south , east and west. So fire up your magnificent machines as we are heading to:
Cafe Wisteria
111 Racecourse Rd
Ascot 4007
(Ascot Plaza)
There is plenty of parking in front and in the side streets of Ascot Plaza as well as carparking under the shopping centre for about 100 cars. Cafe owner Yong is very excited to host our group so we will start to gather at 6am for pre breakfast coffees and bonnet lifting and sit down from 6.30 onwards. As Autumn dawns on us , I hope it is a little cooler in the early hours. Feel free to join us a bit later if you’re not up for an early start.
Bring a story about your car, your life with cars or your travels as our group loves to hear more about our members and the cars they drive . I look forward to seeing you there.

This is revised invitation from the 20-Ghost Club, the RROCA Small Horsepower Register and the Queensland branch of the RROCA for all owners of pre-war cars (including WO Bentleys of course!) to a pleasant Sunday Lunch at the old Dugandan Hotel at Boonah in October to celebrate the King’s Birthday on the long weekend which is uniquely timed in Queensland. King Charles III sends his apologies, but unfortunately, cannot attend.
The Date: Sunday 1 October 2023 at 11:30 am
Where: Dugandan Hotel, Corner Mt French Rd and Boonah-Rathdowney Rd, Dugandan, Qld 4310
Due to the limited number of pre-war cars nominating so far for this event, we are welcoming all Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars for the event. Please try to bring the oldest of your cars if you have a range to choose from.
To encourage the attendance of older cars, RROCA (Qld) President, Brian Carson, has generously donated a bottle of Champagne to the owner of the car which has travelled the longest mileage. To make this more interesting, the mileage times the age of the car will be used to calculate the winner! The older the car the better the chance of winning! See the separate entry sheet and remember to write down your odometer reading before you leave home! (If you drive a 2021 Ghost from Cairns you might be in with a chance!) Download the entry form here!
Cars coming from the Gold Coast and surrounds can meet at Jubilee Park on Telemon St at Beaudesert at 10:15am for a 10:30 am departure and drive to Boonah along the Beaudesert-Boonah Road.
Cars coming from Brisbane and other areas can meet at the Calamvale Hotel (678 Compton Rd, Calamvale) at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am departure and drive to Boonah along a pleasant (non-motorway route) to Boonah.
Parking for our exotic vehicles will be exclusively on the oval opposite the “Dugie” hotel. Lots of other Sunday visitors to the Dugie will be sure to enjoy the sights of our old distinguished chariots as they sit on the balcony. Adventurous souls may like to drive up to Mt French after lunch, which is a few km along the Mt French Rd. However, just to warn you, the last km or so is a bit steep in parts with tight corners. However, my Wraith WXA68 has easily made it up, although on one corner, first gear was selected. (Were there screams from my passenger that the car would not make it???). The sights over this part of the Scenic Rim are fabulous and well worth the additional trip.
Reservations: Please contact John Rowney at johnrowney@bigpond.com or 0413 676 833 by Monday 25 September.
Nominations for positions on the Management Committee of the Queensland Branch close on Monday 28th August, 2023

Who would believe that we would be celebrating 8 years of Carpark Capers and that so many of the members and friends that turned out at 6 am in Samford, would be the mainstay of this event this many years later. Thank you is not enough as I know so many of you have enjoyed every outing for this event. This month we will be heading to the newly opened:
Brisbane Motor Museum
959 Nudgee Rd
Banyo 4014
This is a magnificent facility that has a varied display of cars from all eras. The restaurant facility is top class and will supply breakfast & coffee, and this time they have asked us for an RSVP for catering as we will have exclusive access to the facility.

I know its been a few years since we have had a true ‘Fun Run’ , but now that Covid is pretty much behind us, I’m looking forward to seeing you all for the club driving competition of the year.
‘Quiz Master ‘ and Bentley officianado Glenn Cuffe will be putting together questions that are all about Rolls-Royce & Bentley so I suggest you all start studying up as Glenn is clever enough to trick even the best ‘ Googler’
As usual , there will be great prizes for those that are diligent and well versed ( don’t forget that the judges are open to bribes🙄🙄🙄 ) so bring a team with you as you will need a navigator and some ‘spotters’ as the clues could be a little abstract. It’s ok to come alone too as we can often find a club member who will jump in to help.
We will start to gather at the Calamvale Hotel Carpark from 9.30-10 am for a pre- tour briefing then will set off between 10.15-10.30. The questionnaire will be handed to you as you set off one at a time ( this may be a good time to hand over any ‘gifts’ you may have for the judge/ judges 😀😀 ). The clues can be distracting so we encourage ‘ safety first’ while you are navigating the roads in our great big cars and , remember, if you don’t have a PMC available on the day, please come along in one of your other cars.
We will be heading to Beechmont to the fabulous Estate of one of our famous Rolls-Royce Club members , Mark Ritchie, who has kindly put up his hand to host us for lunch. Mark has confirmed that he has enough off street parking for up to 40 Magnificent Rolls Royce and Bentley cars ( and others 😂). Of course we encourage our Gold Coast members to participate or to come along to Marks‘ home if they can’t make it to the starting line at the Calamvale Hotel.
We intend to arrive at the ‘Beechmont Estate’ by 12 noon (approximately) so any members that decide to only come along to the lunch will be very welcomed too.
What you will need to bring??
1. A Proper Motor Car (PMC) or a mode of transport
2. A navigator/ team to help with questions and answers
3. A pen
4. A sense of humour
5. A keen eye
6. A competitive spirit
7. A picnic lunch ( including meat for your bbq) and drinks
8. A picnic setting
9. A sense of humour
10. Bribes for judges 🙄🙄🙄ssssshhh!!!
Mark is particularly excited to host this event and we look forward to your support for a fantastic day of fun and prizes
Date : Sunday 25 June
Meet up: Calamvale Hotel, 678 Compton Road, Calamvale 4116
Destination: 83 Windabout Road, Beechmont
